About The Role You’ll be part of one of our Engineering squads working on Ad‑tech, interpreting and following architectural and engineering principles, operating frameworks, and new and improved technology and solutions. With your technical craft, curiosity and experimentation, you’ll use judgement to apply specific techniques to deliver focused outcomes that support our customers.

Responsibilities
Collaboratively contribute to the design and support of services and internal frameworks.
Actively participate in research, scoping, and planning activities for the development of new domain and platform capabilities, working closely with engineering and product managers.
Drive the technical roadmap of the product by deeply understanding technology and broader roadmaps.
Lead the design and support of services and internal frameworks to enhance Sainsbury’s capabilities.
Guide, support, and enable performance within the squad by providing technical knowledge and ideas.
Remove technical blockers for fellow developers with their work by providing your support or connecting with the right people.
Act as a role model that represents all the standards and principles by which developers need to work with.
Analyse existing operations to identify risks and redundancies, and conduct comprehensive assessments to develop solutions.
Mentor fellow engineers and promote the engineering community of practice through its program of events.
Essential Criteria You are a highly skilled professional with expertise in designing and developing highly performant and user-friendly web frontends using technologies such as React.js, Redux, Redux Saga, and Typescript. With a strong background in programming languages like Node.js, JavaScript, React.JS, Java, SpringBoot, and Golang, you possess a deep understanding of engineering and architectural principles, enabling you to contribute to the product technical roadmap and implement cutting‑edge cloud and container technologies. Your passion for continuous improvement, agile/lean delivery methodologies, and delivering solutions to customers drives you to constantly enhance your knowledge and explore emerging technologies. Your collaborative nature and commitment to the DevOps principles enable you to support and empower your colleagues in delivering exceptional results.
Commercial experience with Node.js ecosystem, including building REST, Typescript, mono‑repositories, Github Actions, GraphQL, or tRPC APIs, and React with hooks.
Experience with AWS Lambda + Serverless, or similar technologies (Azure Functions, Google Functions, etc.).
Experience with NoSQL Databases, preferably Mongo Atlas.
Terraform experience is a plus.
Experience in software design, implementation, security, cloud, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD. Knowledge of relevant hardware is a plus.
Self‑driven with a constant strive for improvement within your team, division, and peers.
Advocate for agile/lean delivery methodologies.
Passion for delivering solutions to customers, owning the whole SDLC, and following DevOps principles.
Passion for enhancing your knowledge and evidence curiosity in emerging tech.
