As a Senior DevOps Engineer within our Platform Group, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and developer experience. Your primary focus will be on optimising our CI/CD pipelines to boost developer velocity, reviewing our monitoring and observability setup, and evaluating our use of Heroku. This role blends technical leadership, hands‑on problem solving, and cross‑team collaboration with engineers, a technical product manager and stakeholders to design scalable, efficient, and resilient systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
Enhance and streamline continuous integration and deployment pipelines to improve reliability and speed.
Review and improve monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system health and rapid issue resolution.
Work on database monitoring and alerting to proactively prevent performance bottlenecks.
Allocate approximately 30% of effort to developer experience and 70% to infrastructure work.
A bit about you
Proven experience as a DevOps or Platform Engineer with hands‑on expertise.
Strong AWS and Terraform skills, with a track record of designing and managing cloud‑based systems.
Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and best practices to improve software delivery speed and reliability.
Passion for developer velocity and continuously finding ways to make engineers more productive.
Strong problem‑solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Self‑starter mindset, able to take ownership of projects and drive them forward without explicit direction.
Bonus Points for Experience With
Ruby on Rails and optimisation set‑up.
Measuring and improving developer productivity using DORA metrics.
PostgreSQL and security best practices.
