Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Equans (Bouygues Energies & Services Industry), responsible for managing design and technical support services for data centres and other mission‑critical projects.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver designs in line with health and safety requirements.
Full accountability for mechanical services design for data centre and other mission‑critical projects.
Manage mechanical designers, reviewing and approving designs.
Lead coordination of construction, mechanical and electrical design at all stages of the project lifecycle, collaborating with clients, designers, suppliers, subcontractors and commissioning agents.
Lead regular design meetings with the project team and provide effective communication and change management.
Support the technical strategy during bid and pre‑construction phase.
Provide engineering support to site teams, offering specialist design input to resolve problems and support installation work to programme requirements.
Maintain technical audit trail through design, procurement, installation and commissioning stages.
Ensure successful project delivery with high‑quality design deliverables completed on time and on budget.
Document design review process and secure acceptance by internal and external stakeholders.
Act as design lead within project teams.
Resolve installation and commissioning challenges effectively.

Qualifications & Experience
Recognised qualification in mechanical / building services engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent experience).
Experience designing mechanical services in line with appropriate standards, guidance and client requirements.
Ability to agree practical and realistic programme for delivery of design to stakeholders and project demands.
Leadership and mentoring skills for engineers and designers at all levels.
Experience leading mechanical services design for data centres and other critical environment projects.
Experience across all stages of project lifecycle – pre‑construction, design and construction.
Experience in specialist design and engineering services – Sustainability & compliance (BREEAM, environmental permitting, Part L), mathematical modelling (CFD, FEA, etc.) and services support design.
