We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. You will be responsible for operating various types of material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to transport goods. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, stocking inventory, and retrieving materials as needed. Accuracy in tracking and storing materials is key to maintaining our inventory system. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking and retrieving items.
- Ensure all materials are handled and stored correctly according to established procedures.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
- Support the overall logistics and supply chain functions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).
- Valid forklift certification is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
- Commitment to wearing and using appropriate PPE at all times.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical dexterity and stamina for the demands of the job.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic in logistics.
