About the Role The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will work as part of the Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) Cyber Security team to maintain security tooling and infrastructures, support strategy, and provide incident response.
As a Security Engineer you will administer security platforms, tooling and related infrastructure. You will work closely with the Principal Cyber Security Architect and Cyber Security team, managing and developing the platforms and tools that support our security posture. You will also work in a Security Operations capacity, providing incident response.
We are offering a fixed‑term, full‑time (36.5 hours per week) role, with an expected end date of 31 December 2026.
In This Role, You Will
Manage security platforms including SIEM/SOAR and vulnerability management tools.
Manage Cyber Security owned servers (Windows and Linux).
Develop and enhance existing cyber security tooling to improve security posture and capabilities.
Liaise with technical colleagues within the university on security engineering best practice.
About You
Has proven experience managing security tooling, systems and common server operating systems.
Has experience managing security appliances such as firewalls, vulnerability management tools, Security Incident and Event Monitoring/Security Orchestration and Response tools.
Is confident managing competing priorities and implementing effective governance and reporting processes.
Works proactively, with sound judgement and excellent communication skills when engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
