The Systems Design Engineer will help to lead our customer through Developing the overall structure and specifications of systems, including its various subsystems and components. Supporting the team to design, develop and deliver complex systems on-time and on-budget through good systems engineering practices in order to meet theirgoals.
This Systems Design Engineer vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organisation. The job holder will be engaged in a wide variety of Systems Engineering Design activities covering the entire engineering lifecycle, including; systems definition, input to estimates and bid activities, requirements apportionment, systems architecting, integration, & validation, which will involve proactive interaction and communication with other Engineering and non-Engineering functions. Candidates with a good understanding of all aspects of Systems Engineering relating to lifecycle processes and methodologies should apply.
Responsibilities
Converts requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
Good understanding of the systems development lifecycle and lifecycle products.
System Design and Architecture: Developing the overall structure and specifications of the system, including its various subsystems and components.
Requirements Analysis: Understanding and analyzing the needs of the organization and translating them into technical requirements for the system
Integration: Ensuring that all the different parts of the system (hardware, software, etc.) work together seamlessly
Risk Management: Identifying potential technical risks throughout the project lifecycle and developing mitigation strategies
Technical Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical reports, specifications, and other documentation related to the system's design, development, and performance
Technical Oversight: Supervising the implementation of the system, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards
Cost Estimating: Developing cost estimates for products and ensuring they are completed within project budget
Represent System Engineering at formal Design Reviews, with particular attention to the reduction of design risks.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering discipline
Essential skills
Systems Engineering:
Requirements and Use Case analysis
Concept assessment and design trade studies
System architecture design and functional modelling
Performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis
Verification, Validation and Certification
Model based engineering techniques, including MBSE
Desired skills
Defence Sector Highly desirable
Bid Management desirable
Experience
Experience delivering to the Systems Design Engineering activities.
Experience working within systems engineering with IVVQ role on left side of V lifecycle.
Modifications and configuration management
Project and Programmes Experience desirable
