$40.45 - $62.70 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

A Brief Overview:
The clinical nurse educator is responsible for nursing team development and continuing nursing education. The clinical nurse educator develops and coordinates orientation programs for new personnel, coordinates education programs, training, simulation learning and continuing education for all nursing personnel. The Clinical Nurse Educator elevates the standard of professional nursing practice across the system by developing, coaching and mentoring nursing staff.
What you will do:
  • Onboarding Education
    • Designs, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates the onboarding and orientation programs for new nursing team members
    • Facilitates the onboarding of new team members to ensure integration to the role on both unit and system-wide levels, focusing on retention and growth.
    • Serves as the resource, to the department based Clinical Nurse Educators and/or Clinical Nurse Managers, for questions, communication and problem solving around onboarding orientation.
  • Education
    • Partners with peers and colleagues on the creation and implementation of system continuing education programs and presentations, such as professional role development, practical skills in clinical and/or simulation setting utilizing evidence-based practice and adult learning theory.
    • Develop and provide nursing education in a variety of venues and/or methods.
    • Shares responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development programs and teaching methodologies to improve system outcomes.
    • Participates in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency programs for nurses at all levels.
    • Collaborates with academic nursing partners to support and promote integration of nursing students into the system environment.
  • Leadership and Mentorship
    • Mentors and coaches clinical nurse/department nurse educators to be able to advance in nursing education.
    • Fosters a healthy work environment and builds effective teams via coaching and utilizing advanced communication skills.
    • Identifies and participates in evidenced-based and nursing research projects.
    • Mentors others in nursing evidenced-based and research projects.
    • Advances nursing practice by participation in professional organizations, publications, and dissemination of best practices.

What you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
  • Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current nursing specialty certification; if no specialty nursing certification, certification required within one year of assuming role.
  • 5+ Years Clinical experience in a medical center, hospital environment or academic setting.
  • Adult learner knowledge and expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Able to effectively interact with colleagues and all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage in dialogue with diverse healthcare audiences
  • Commitment to teamwork; ability to work with others to set and accomplish goals through collaboration and coordination.
  • Possesses presentation skills necessary to provide education to audiences throughout the system.
  • Commitment to continued personal professional development as evidenced by attendance at seminars, conferences, maintaining specialty certification, etc.
