If you find purpose in caring for others and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities, this opportunity is for you. Join CDD, a Kansas City nonprofit with over five decades of service, as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) — supporting adults in our new market the Chillicothe, Missouri homes. CDD is new to the Chillicothe market and brings over 50 years of nonprofit experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Unlike many local roles, we offer competitive starting pay, full-time benefits, paid training, and advancement pathways — creating long-term careers, not just hourly jobs. Why You'll Love Working at CDD
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Make a meaningful impact every day by helping individuals with developmental disabilities live with dignity, independence, and opportunity.
  • Meaningful Connections: Build trusted relationships while supporting daily living, life skills, and community involvement.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Choose a schedule that fits your life — full-time or part-time opportunities with day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts available.
  • Supportive Team Environment: Be part of a collaborative, mission-focused team that values compassion, communication, and teamwork.
  • Growth & Advancement: Enjoy paid training, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities to grow into Lead DSP, Residential Specialist, or Program Specialist roles.
  • Comprehensive Benefits (FT) & Perks (PT): Full-time DSPs receive health, dental, vision, PTO, and a 401(k) with 6% match — while part-time DSPs enjoy paid training, flexible hours, and eligibility for internal advancement.
  • A Mission You'll Believe In: Every shift contributes to a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where individuals can thrive.
What You'll Do
  • Support individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
  • Assist with medication administration and health documentation under supervisor guidance.
  • Encourage independence, community participation, and personal development.
  • Provide companionship, behavioral support, and emotional encouragement.
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation (T-Logs, service notes, etc.).
  • Ensure safe, respectful, and person-centered care in all settings.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Class E (MO) or Class C (KS) driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist individuals with personal care.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and professional demeanor.
  • Must pass background, FCSR, and health screenings prior to hire.
  • One year of related experience or education in human services or healthcare preferred.
The Role at a Glance
  • Pay: $19/hr. + weekend differential pay.
  • Work Setting: Residential homes in the Chillicothe, Missouri area.
  • Schedule: Full-time or part-time; day, evening, and overnight shifts available.
  • Training: Paid onboarding and continued professional development.
