Über
designing and governing SAP solutions
that enable McLaren’s business processes across Finance, Procurement, Logistics, Manufacturing, and other corporate functions. This role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring that SAP solutions are aligned with business objectives, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards.
The role requires deep technical expertise in
SAP ECC6
and a strong understanding of
S/4HANA and subsequent migration strategies . The SAP Solution Architect will work closely with business stakeholders defining solutions that meet business needs and requirements, leading the delivery of the solutions in collaboration with internal and external teams.
What You’ll Do: Scope of the Role
Core Platforms:
SAP ECC6 (current), SAP S/4HANA (future migration), SAP Fiori, SAP BTP
Domains:
Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement
Collaboration:
Business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, Project Managers, and internal/external functional and technical teams.
Principal Accountabilities
Engage with business leaders
to understand strategic objectives and process requirements.
Design end-to-end SAP solutions that optimise business processes and align with enterprise architecture standards.
Promote an “out-of-the-box” standard approach and methodology , minimising customisation and leveraging SAP best practices to reduce complexity and cost.
Develop
solution blueprints , integration patterns, and configuration guidelines for SAP modules and extensions.
Migration & Modernisation
Assess current ECC6 landscape and define
migration approach to S/4HANA , including readiness checks, simplification items, and data migration strategy.
Provide guidance on
leveraging S/4HANA
capabilities to improve business outcomes.
Governance & Standards
Ensure SAP solutions adhere to
security, compliance, and performance
standards.
Participate in architecture review boards, design authorities and
contribute to SAP governance
frameworks.
Delivery & Quality Assurance
Translate functional requirements into
technical specifications
for offshore development teams.
Review and
validate technical deliverables , ensuring alignment with design principles and business needs.
Support testing phases
(unit, integration, UAT) and manage defect resolution.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
Act as a
trusted advisor
to business stakeholders on SAP capabilities and best practices.
Provide
thought leadership
on SAP roadmap, emerging technologies, and
process optimisation
opportunities.
What You’ll Bring:
Extensive experience
as an SAP Solution Architect or Lead SAP Consultant, in large-scale enterprise environments, and within the scoped domains.
Strong
functional knowledge
of the scoped domains, cross-functional dependencies and integrations, and integration technologies.
Proven ability to
design and configure complex SAP solutions
and produce detailed functional and technical documentation.
Experience
working with AMS providers , managing delivery and guiding both
onshore and offshore
teams.
Excellent
stakeholder management
and communication skills.
SAP S/4HANA
certification , and hands‑on experience with
SAP S/4HANA migration projects
(greenfield or brownfield).
Understanding of, and experience using
SAP Activate
methodology for implementing SAP S/4HANA projects.
Familiarity with
SAP Fiori ,
SAP BTP , and cloud integration patterns.
Knowledge of DevOps practices for SAP (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, automated testing).
