We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. The role requires a BPSS security clearance (process up to 8 weeks) and eligibility to reside in the UK for the past 5 years.
Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level. Employment type: Full‑time. Job function: Design. Industries: Civil Engineering.
Job Summary - Hybrid working: Four days on site, one day remote. - Work within a small consultant team supporting the nuclear build. - Collaborate with KBJV Project/Package Management team. - Review and comment on contractor/consultant mechanical design documentation. - Attend on‑site and off‑site meetings. - Liaise with client/contractors and consultants. - Problem‑solve and contribute innovative mechanical & electrical design solutions. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant design standards and regulations. - Work with external mechanical & electrical consultants, architects, civils, structural and project team members to ensure coordinated and efficient delivery. - Work within a highly regulated industry.
Qualifications
Civil Engineering/Construction related qualification – HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng.
Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with good all‑round knowledge of building services systems including customer‑facing experience.
Familiarity with and ability to comment on design documentation and software such as Amtech, AutoCAD and Revit.
Knowledge of RIBA and BSRIA Design Stage Deliverables (essential) with working knowledge of Babcock Agility process.
