Lead Design Engineer Responsibilities
Guiding, supporting and leading a small team of Design Engineers
Supporting with the design of new and bespoke products in compliance with industry and client specifications
Prepare and review 3D models, fabrication drawings and BOM’s using CAD software
that the designs meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with internal manufacturing teams to optimise designs for manufacturability
Perform engineering calculations
Develop and maintain design documentation, data sheets and technical specifications
Provide technical support through the manufacturing, inspection and testing phases
Support sales with quotations
Liaising directly with customers and suppliers on design requirements and specifications
Researching other products in the market to generate ideas for improvement
Providing technical advice and support on design requirements
Working with both 3D and 2D software systems such as AutoCAD/ Inventor/ Solidworks
Skills and Experience
Must have experience with 3D software (AutoCAD/ Inventor/Solidworks)
Finite Element Analysis exposure/understanding would be advantageous
Relevant qualification would be ideal but not essential
Must be within commutable distance – Must drive or have access to own transport
This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer / Mechanical Designer
