Salary:
£40,000 – £50,000
dependent on experience + excellent benefits
Responsibilities and Duties
Own complete features from research through implementation.
Conduct user research independently and translate insights into actionable design improvements.
Design sophisticated user flows that consider the full user journey, not just isolated screens.
Apply design methodologies (competitor analysis, user story mapping, service design) appropriately to solve problems.
Contribute to the design system: identify inconsistencies and propose improvements; create new patterns when existing ones don't meet user needs.
Collaborate cross‑functionally: work with product managers and engineers to identify and solve user problems; advocate for design‑driven solutions; break down larger projects into manageable tasks with accurate time estimates.
Mentor and elevate the team: mentor junior designers through critiques, pair‑designing and informal guidance; help establish design standards and best practices; identify and raise UX issues proactively; suggest process improvements and new ways of working; stay current with design trends.
Additional context: You’ll work primarily with the reconciliation product team, collaborating closely with the Product Manager and engineering team. Reconciliation involves complex workflows around transaction matching, exception investigation, and ensuring data accuracy across systems; you’ll need to learn this domain deeply and contribute to our product as we leverage AI to simplify workflows that millions of financial professionals rely on daily.
Essential Skills
Product design experience, preferably in B2B or complex domains.
Proven UX expertise: strong portfolio showing research, information architecture, and interaction design, not just visual design.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on moderately complex problems.
Experience contributing to design systems: understanding of tokens, components, and pattern libraries.
Strong collaboration skills: track record of successfully working with product managers and engineers.
Excellent visual craft with keen attention to detail.
Understanding of technical constraints and responsive design principles.
Data‑driven approach to design decisions – you use research and metrics to inform your work.
Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
Mindset & Approach
Self‑directed: you identify problems and drive solutions independently, not waiting for assignments.
Strategic: you connect design decisions to business outcomes and can articulate the “why” behind your work.
Balanced judgment: you know when to push for ideal solutions versus making pragmatic trade‑offs.
Mentorship‑capable: you can guide junior designers effectively through feedback and example.
Resilient: you maintain high standards while working in imperfect conditions – you don’t need a perfect environment to do great work.
Communicative: you articulate design decisions clearly to product teams, engineers, and other designers.
Growth‑oriented: you actively seek feedback and are committed to continuous improvement.
