Quality Assurance Engineer The Role The Quality Assurance Engineer will operate within the project environment to support the project team in the production, coordination, submission, and sign-off of Quality Assurance deliverables. The role ensures that all Quality Assurance activities are comprehensive, robust, and aligned with the Instructed Contract and Works Information, as well as proportionate to the scalability, complexity, and risk levels across the programme. The position also supports delivery teams in meeting time and quality assurance targets.
Key Responsibilities Quality Control & Documentation
Establish Inspection and Test Plans for the project (using company templates) and agree these with the client prior to site works commencing
Establish and implement the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, incorporating ITPS, Site Acceptance Test (SAT) requirements and Project Commissioning Plans, supporting the project specialists where required
Liaise with the construction and engineering teams to brief them on the quality assurance requirements for the project, including ITPs, check sheets and red line drawings
Monitor project performance against the requirements of the quality plan, including the number of check sheets produced against the activities completed
Monitor the filing of quality assurance documentation and liaise with the project manager to inform them of non-compliances found
Review redline drawings from the site team against the As-Built Survey and for Construction Design drawings
Maintain accurate records of all information issued both upstream and downstream
Review completed ITPs prior to formal submission to ensure all required details are complete
Drive the site engineering team in the production and maintenance of the calibration register
Collaborate with the site team and perform daily reviews and updates of construction quality evidence on the client's project digital management system, where applicable
Maintain up-to-date and accurate quality documentation throughout construction, close-out, and handover phases
Assurance & Compliance
Work closely with technical authors and suppliers of package equipment that will feed into the handover file
Ensure all site quality documentation is established, implemented, coordinated, recorded, and compliant with company documentation, procedures and contract requirements
Promote proactive reporting of non-conformances and ensure effective follow-up
Assist the project and site teams in implementing the project's quality systems
Maintain and monitor all documented evidence to ensure visibility and traceability
Offer quality guidance, direction, and instruction to the operational team to develop and improve their understanding and application of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Support compliance with ISO 9001 standards and all relevant contract requirements
Planning & Coordination
Attend weekly lookahead meetings to understand the progress of site works to help with planning of quality evidence needs during the construction, commissioning and handover stages
Work closely with the project team to achieve progressive assurance throughout construction, commissioning, and handover
Assist in compiling commissioning and handover documentation in line with project, Utility Company, and contractual requirements
Maintain accurate progress records during all project stages and provide visibility of progressive assurance
Gather information and feedback from project teams to support continuous improvement
Promote a positive quality culture and champion the Quality - Right First Time initiative
About you Essential
Previous experience working in a similar Quality Assurance role
Demonstrated ability to deliver and embed service improvements
Strong interpersonal, organisational, communication, and time-management abilities, with a strategic and analytical mindset
Confident in presenting data insights clearly and effectively, both verbally and through visual formats
Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office packages
Good social media skills with the ability to develop and update varied Social Media platforms
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-management skills
Desirable
Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
Experience in implementing Quality Control processes
