Role Overview

This is a prep-forward BOH position focused on daily production for all service staff to assemble and serve. The role supports menu execution, quality control, and kitchen operations, with occasional light service and event support.

What You'll Do

  • Execute daily prep and production for a seasonal day-to-night menu
  • Prepare vegetables, sauces, marinades, proteins, desserts, and mise en place
  • Support light cooking, oven work, and plating as needed
  • Maintain prep lists, portion standards, labeling, and FIFO practices
  • Work collaboratively with BOH and communicate clearly with FOH for smooth service
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, stocked, and food-safe
  • Support kitchen-wide prep, setup, breakdown, and cleanup
  • Participate in pre-service tastings, briefings, and notes
  • Assist with inventory organization and prep forecasting

Cooking Skills & Kitchen Proficiency

  • Solid knife skills and foundational cooking techniques
  • Ability to follow recipes, station guides, and prep systems consistently
  • Comfort working with seasonal ingredients and maintaining plating standards
  • Calm, efficient workflow in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Food Quality & Operations

  • Maintain high standards for taste, texture, and temperature
  • Follow sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness procedures
  • Receive, rotate, and properly store ingredients
  • Participate in scheduled deep cleaning of BOH areas
  • Adhere to Health Department standards for safety, labeling, and storage

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years BOH or prep kitchen experience (fine dining or upscale casual preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and consistency
  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Team player with clear communication skills
  • Comfortable interfacing with guests when needed
  • Enthusiasm for creative, food-driven environments

Physical Demands & Schedule

  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods
  • Lift and carry boxes, containers, and equipment
  • Work in hot, noisy, and fast-paced kitchen conditions
  • May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on programming

Compensation

  • $25–$30/hour, depending on experience
  • Primarily daytime prep shifts with occasional evening support
  • Opportunity for growth as menus and programming expand
