The Design Engineer role is responsible for supporting business strategy, delivering profitable, organic growth and continuous improvement, by interacting with customers, interpreting technical specifications, and converting these into a world class product or service.
The Design Engineer role is part of the Design Engineering team and involves working collaboratively with Project Management, Operations/Production, Quality and Supply Chain departments.
Job Description
Design and engineer flow control components considering pressure, temperature, and environmental factors.
Conduct engineering analyses, calculations, and qualification/test planning for product validation.
Review and interpret FEA, CFD, and physical test data.
Ensure compliance with military, government, and internal quality and safety standards.
Support the full engineering lifecycle from concept and bid to production and testing.
Select appropriate materials and oversee product and compliance testing.
Develop prototypes and perform functional/environmental validation.
Troubleshoot failures and implement design improvements.
Produce engineering documentation, drawings (BS8888), and reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration.
Maintain MRP/PDM data and report progress to stakeholders.
Manage time, cost, and risk within project budgets.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation
Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills
5+ years’ experience in a relevant field
Experience in creating engineering calculations and design/product validation
Experience draughting to BS8888 standards
Skilled in 3D mechanical design (SolidWorks preferred)
Seniority level Mid-Senior level
