Overview The ideal candidate will be an IT or Telecommunications Professional with a strong background in Rugged Mobile LTE handsets, devices & applications (Android OS) and 4G/5G networks. Our Pre‑Sales Engineers are an essential component of the sales effort, assisting our customers to identify their needs and exploring how our devices, accessories and applications can form a solution to help attain their business goals. The chosen individual will be joining a dynamic Pre‑Sales engineering team with significant work variety and the opportunity to engage with a richly diverse set of global customers and distribution partners.
Role Building upon your engineering background, you will work with customers, mobile network operators, government bodies and application developers to technically qualify products for key opportunities, helping to drive key projects globally. You will be an advocate for the customer within Sepura, contributing to Sales/Business Development and Product Management groups. This role requires an individual who is driven to develop extensive customer relationships and provide the best customer experience from the initial meeting through requirements capture, solution proposal, demonstration, tendering & closure. It is a hands‑on role which requires practical sales engineering skills as well as strategic thinking.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Communicate the vision and value of our products to the Sales team and our partners to facilitate the selling process.
Pro‑actively identify technical opportunities based upon customer engagement.
Capture and understand customer requirements; propose technical solutions based therein and construct the internal business case with Product Management.
Answer tenders (RFI/RFP) in a detailed and professional manner.
Perform SWOT analysis on competitor products and prepare tender‑influencing technical requirements for use in pre‑tender actions.
Prepare and deliver solution‑based product presentations and demonstrations to customers.
Execute customer proof of concepts (POCs).
Understand competitor offerings and provide input to the sales team on product positioning and differentiation.
Work with Product Management and Marketing to build on product messaging that sets Sepura products apart from others in the market to give them a unique selling point.
Plan and participate in the launch of new products, internally and externally.
Travel to customer premises globally.
Represent Sepura at customer‑facing events.
About the Candidate The successful individual will be expected to travel around the UK and internationally, so a valid passport and a full driving licence are required. Due to the nature of our customer base, the individual may be expected to complete UK Security Clearance (SC) vetting.
Qualifications Essential Experience and Skills
Relevant technical degree, HND or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Proven Pre‑sales engineering experience working alongside a sales team.
Demonstrable background in Rugged Mobile LTE handsets and devices, Android OS, Android applications and 4G/5G networks.
Proven ability to confidently deliver technical presentations and demonstrate equipment to small, medium and large audiences.
Affinity to both sales and technology functions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bond with technical and operational customers up to senior levels.
Proposal and Tender writing experience.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Commercial acumen and organisational awareness.
Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
Customer focus and quality of communications is a key attribute.
Desirable Experience and Skills (Not Essential)
Extensive practical experience valued over qualifications.
3GPP MCX.
AWS or Enterprise Mobility Management.
Familiarity with Qualcomm toolkits.
LMR (TETRA, DMR).
Experience with Public Safety organisations, System Integrator organisations or MNO’s would be advantageous.
