Guidant Global is delighted to partner with Airbus to recruit a
Lead Electrical Design Engineer
to join the Test Centre (1VM) in Filton. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of a
new avionic control bench
supporting large hydromechanical installations for landing gear extension/retraction and braking systems. If you thrive in a collaborative engineering environment and enjoy leading on complex technical projects, this role offers both challenge and long‑term career growth.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading the full electrical design of a new avionic control bench
Developing electrical schematics, technical drawings and specifications
Contributing to the overall system architecture
Managing design risks and major engineering milestones (FCR, PDR, FDR, CDR)
Supporting and overseeing assembly, build, and integration activities
Leading the Validation & Verification phase
Ensuring successful entry into service
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to meet time, cost and quality targets
What You'll Bring
Strong background in electrical design and architecture
Experience working with design tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or KiCad
Understanding of electrical systems, testing principles, and instrumentation
Knowledge of avionic hardware interfaces (analogue, discrete)
Familiarity with avionic data buses (A429, CAN, AFDX)
Experience with control systems and data acquisition
A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and strong communication skills
Aviation or landing‑gear‑related experience is beneficial but not essential. Transferable engineering experience from other sectors is welcomed.
Contract Details
Hourly rate: £37.38 (PAYE) / £50.00 (Umbrella)
Hours: 35 per week across 4.5 days (between 7am‑7pm)
Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
IR35 status: Inside IR35
Travel: Occasional
