As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and refining CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for a wide range of fabricated structures and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks.
Design components and assemblies for heavy engineering, sheet metal, and fabricated structures.
Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accuracy throughout the design lifecycle.
Carry out drawing revisions, version control, and change documentation.
Liaise with production teams to ensure engineered designs are practical, manufacturable, and to specification.
Review and check engineering drawings and paperwork to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Contribute to continuous improvement and product optimisation initiatives.
Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels in a well‑organised, professional, and proactive manner.
About You We are looking for an engineer with strong problem‑solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously. You should be methodical, organised, and comfortable working to tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree‑level qualification or comparable industry experience.
Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
Proven experience within heavy engineering, sheet metal, or fabrication design.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Excellent attention to detail, meticulous approach to drawings and documentation.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Experience performing or interpreting FEA (desirable).
