Summary:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the daily operational management of the Pharmacy. Also, responsible for overseeing the
effective selection, orientation and in-service training of technicians and pharmacists. Provides adequate direction, education
opportunities and coaching to develop and improve staff performance and maintain appropriate documentation of all
competencies.
Responsibilities:
- The development of the annual capital and operating budgets.
- Assure functional compliance with applicable laws, regulatory agencies (including JCAHO), Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and other governing bodies.
- Serves as senior clinical oversight for specialty pharmacy accreditation.
- Oversees the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications to patients.
- Oversees the departmental purchasing function.
- Assumes administrative responsibility in the absence of a director.
- Assess the accuracy and timeliness of pharmacists and technicians work concerning drug preparation, dispensing, and other support (unit inspections, etc.)
- Ensures an adequate supply of medications is available to meet patient demand.
- Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
- Experience in automatic dispensing system.
- Experience with EPIC systems.
- Must have a clean driving record and be able to be insured on the hospital's auto insurance plan.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor degree in Pharmacy with Pharm D.
- Completion of a PGY 1 Pharmacy Residency or a minimum of two years of pharmacy management experience in an applicable field required. PGY 2 preferred.
- Certification: Current license from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
- Years of experience supervising: Minimum 2 years of hospital management required.
