The Front of the House Manager is responsible for overseeing all guest-facing operations to ensure exceptional service, smooth daily execution, and a positive, professional work environment. This role leads FOH staff, enforces company policies, and serves as the bridge between ownership, management, and service teams.
Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Service Excellence
Ensure every guest receives prompt, friendly, and professional service
Actively manage the floor during service, especially during peak hours
Handle guest concerns, complaints, and special requests with urgency and care
Maintain consistent service standards across all shifts
Monitor food presentation, timing, and accuracy before delivery to guests
Staff Leadership & Supervision
Lead, coach, and support servers, hosts, bartenders, runners, bussers, and helpers
Enforce company policies, dress code, and service standards
Address performance issues promptly and professionally
Provide on-the-spot training and corrective guidance when needed
Create a respectful, team-oriented, and non-toxic work environment
Ensure staff follows authority and chain of command
Scheduling & Labor Management
Assist with staff scheduling to meet business needs and control labor costs
Ensure proper coverage for all shifts
Manage call-outs, shift swaps, and attendance issues according to company policy
Monitor clock-in/clock-out compliance
Operational Oversight
Conduct pre-shift meetings and assign side work
Ensure FOH opening and closing duties are completed properly
Monitor cleanliness of dining room, restrooms, service stations, and bar areas
Ensure all FOH stations are stocked, organized, and ready for service
Coordinate with BOH to ensure smooth food flow and communication
Cash Handling & Reporting
Oversee register procedures, cash handling, and end-of-shift cashouts
Ensure accurate tip reporting and adherence to tip-pooling policies (if applicable)
Report discrepancies, incidents, or irregularities to upper management
Training & Development
Train new hires on service standards, menus, POS systems, and company policies
Ensure staff knowledge of food, drinks, allergens, and upselling standards
Assist in performance evaluations, probation reviews, and disciplinary documentation
Compliance & Policy Enforcement
Enforce company rules, HR policies, and safety standards
Ensure compliance with local labor laws and health regulations
Document incidents, warnings, suspensions, and escalations accurately
