Our Detroit, Michigan distribution center is looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our **logistics** team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse, ensuring that goods are transported safely and effectively. Your duties will include operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery, as well as loading and unloading trucks. You will assist with receiving, put-away, order picking, and shipping processes. A strong emphasis is placed on **safety**, and all employees must adhere to strict guidelines, including the proper use of **PPE**. This role involves significant **lifting** and requires physical stamina and precision. We are seeking a reliable and experienced individual who can contribute to the smooth operation of our warehouse. Your dedication to efficiency and **safety** is paramount to our success. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks and containers.
- Transport materials within the warehouse to designated areas.
- Assist with receiving, put-away, picking, and packing operations.
- Ensure all materials are handled in accordance with **safety** procedures.
- Maintain equipment and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Perform regular **lifting** and maneuvering of heavy items, up to 70 lbs.
- Adhere to all **PPE** requirements and **safety** regulations.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the **logistics** operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or Forklift Operator.
- Valid forklift certification is required.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse **logistics** and material flow.
- Excellent **safety** record and knowledge of **PPE**.
- Physical ability to perform frequent **lifting**, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy items.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
