Position Summary

This position provides heavy manual labour involving the use of hand and/or common labouring tools, operation of small motorized equipment, and operation of motorized vehicles up a maximum of a 1 ton truck. This position requires employees to work shift work; day, evening, weekends and holidays. This position reports to Supervisor, Park and Facilities Services.

Park Maintenance II - positions available are seasonal positions staring: December March 31, 2026.

We are hiring multiple candidates. These positions will require the successful candidates to work flexible hours throughout the week and on weekends.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to Calgary Stampede policies and procedures.
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Performing heavy manual labour including, digging trenches, moving furniture, and setting up construction fences.
  • Operating equipment as trained including, forklift, bobcat, ride on lawn mowers, self-propelled walk behind mowers, grass powered trimmers and light commercial/farm tractors (up to 50 HP), as trained for and competency testing validates ability to safely and effectively operate, as deemed acceptable by the Calgary Stampede.
  • Completing daily logs as directed, which may include but not limited to vehicle inspections, signing out vehicles, fuel, vehicle maintenance action sheets.
  • Regular communication with Park and Facility Services supervision and/or management and Park Patrol on any issues that negatively impact the protection of employees, or company assets.
  • Administrative duties, as required by legislation and policy, including, but not limited to: inspections, hazard assessments, and resource utilization as assigned or required in the performance of duties.
  • Perform a variety of labour tasks as directed and trained.
  • Communicate issues, challenges and deficiencies to the supervisor that prevent successful completion of assigned tasks, projects or duties in a timely/efficient manner.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:

  • Must possess, at minimum, valid Class 5 driver's license (non-GDL), with one (1) year driving experience;
  • Must be in good physical health in order to perform heavy lifting and manual labour
  • Successfully complete Calgary Stampede orientation/training certification as required by Park and Facility Services.
  • Aptitude to perform heavy lifting and manual labour
  • Exceptional customer service, communication and time management skills
  • WHMIS Certification or successful completion of, within three months of employment
  • Must have CSA approved steel toe work boots
  • Experience in grounds maintenance and/or equipment operation preferred

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting upwards of 50 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Pushing, pulling, crouching, bending, and reaching frequently.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, gas, odors', animal dander, bedding waste and variability of seasonal climate.
  • Physical and visual acuity is required.
  • Evening and weekend work required
