*General Job Description: *
The Director of Pharmacy Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational execution of a high-performing compounding pharmacy that serves patients and providers nationwide. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across clinical operations, retail pharmacy and storefront operations, fulfillment center operations and inventory management, and overall operational performance. Key areas of responsibility include service delivery, staff leadership and development, regulatory compliance, budgeting and financial performance, and ensuring daily operations are efficient, compliant, scalable and aligned with the strategic direction set forth by the SVP of Pharmacy. The Director partners closely with the SVP to implement enterprise initiatives, monitor performance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational readiness for growth and regulatory inspections.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *
* Provide oversight and direction for end-to-end pharmacy operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant dispensing and compounding.
* Ensure daily operational throughput meets or exceeds KPI targets (turnaround time, capacity, labor efficiency, accuracy, production output, error rates.)
* Support customer service and patient experience initiatives by ensuring operational practices align with organizational goals
* Manage, mentor, and oversee workforce planning to support operational demands ensuring cross-functional, coordinated execution.
* Build a culture of accountability, communication, and performance excellence through ongoing coaching, training, and professional development.
* Partner closely with SVP of Pharmacy on operational strategy, resource planning, scaling plans, and enterprise priorities.
* Translate high-level strategic direction into operational plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
* Oversee forecasting and planning to support business initiatives and pharmacy service lines
* Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, including FDA, DEA, USP, and accrediting bodies.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers and stakeholders to develop and implement strategic plans for retail and specialty pharmacy services.
* Partner with Director of QA/QC, Sales and Marketing, Clinical, Inventory, and Facilities to maintain alignment and integrated execution.
* Maintain consistent, transparent, and proactive communication with SVP of Pharmacy, including weekly operational updates, KPI dashboards, and performance summaries. Ensure a “no surprises” environment: early escalation of issues, risks, or barriers.

*Qualifications:*
*Education *
· Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred. _Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. _
*Experience & Certifications *
* 10+ years of pharmacy experience with a minimum of 5 years in an operational management role.
* 3 years of experience managing leaders or managers.
* Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, quality standards, and accreditation requirements
* Proven experience leading teams and managing pharmacy operations in a face-paced, high-volume environment.
* Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution with measurable outcomes.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to drive process improvements while managing multiple competing priorities and manage change effectively

*Work Environment: *
This position operates withing a standard pharmacy and office environment. The role routinely requires:
· Prolonged periods of sitting or standing
· Use of computers, telephones, and office equipment
· Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds
· Walking within pharmacy operations and between department or facilities
*Additional Requirements:*
· Must pass a background check and drug screen
· Authorized to work in the U.S (E-Verify employer)
· Active Tennessee pharmacist license in good standing (or ability to obtain before start date)
*Compensation and Benefit Summary:*
Compensation will be determined based on skills, education, and experience. Compensation includes eligibility for performance-based quarterly bonuses.
