Ice Facility Custodian – Part Time

Shawnigan Lake School is seeking a part time Ice Facility Custodian to work with our Operations team in providing custodial services at our ice arena facility.

This is a part-time position offering a wage in the range of $22 to $24.31 per hour (wage offered will be in line with experience, education and internal parity), a flexible work environment, and a nurturing family-friendly workplace. Shifts will primarily be on weekend mornings, with the possibility of additional shifts offered.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will work as a member of our Arena team under the supervision of the Arena Manager. Shifts will primarily be on weekends. Flexibility is key as shifts may fluctuate based on the operational needs of the School. 

  • Deep clean and sanitize all public areas of the arena, including washrooms
  • Deep clean, mop and sanitize arena dressing rooms, including showers and washrooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of cleaning supply areas
  • Clean and sanitize bench and hydration stations
  • Assist groups with access to assigned dressing rooms
  • Monitor groups on ice
  • Assist on-shift operator with evacuations in the event of an emergency.
  • Other duties relating to the running of the arena front end

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience in a custodial role is an asset
  • Working knowledge of cleaning products, procedures, and equipment
  • Familiarity with ice facility operations is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong sense of initiative and organization
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to deal with minor problems or variances to routine
  • Proven record of professionalism, dependability, and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • A high level of fitness and stamina, with the capability to consistently meet the physical demands of the position
  • Current WHMIS certification an asset

Opportunities may exist for training and career advancement in ice facility operations including Ice Facility Operator (IFO) through provided coursing and provincial examination
