Position Description

Serving as a critical extension of the Distribution & Transportation executive team, this role ensures alignment between enterprise growth goals and execution across the global 3PL network—delivering world-class operational performance, compliance, and cost efficiency. The Director partners closely with internal business units and 3PL providers to create a unified, scalable, and high-performing logistics ecosystem that enables Milwaukee Tool's continued expansion across North America and abroad.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the global 3PL strategy to enable growth, speed, and scalability in alignment with enterprise priorities.

  • Serve as the strategic liaison between the EVP, Distribution & Transportation and 3PL partners to ensure performance alignment and contract compliance.

  • Lead long-term planning for distribution footprint optimization, automation adoption, and capability enhancement across regions.

  • Oversee sourcing, negotiation, and onboarding of new 3PL partners through a disciplined RFP and governance process.

Operational Excellence

  • Direct day-to-day operations and performance across Canada and global 3PL sites, ensuring delivery accuracy, safety, and efficiency.

  • Establish standardized operating frameworks, metrics, and KPIs across all 3PL locations to drive transparency and accountability.

  • Lead quarterly and annual business reviews with 3PLs, ensuring action plans are in place for continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Continuous Improvement and Supply Chain Engineering to introduce best-in-class technology, process optimization, and automation.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own full P&L accountability for 3PL operations within scope, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost variance management.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to ensure fiscal discipline, contract alignment, and cost-savings realization.

  • Monitor key performance indicators, labor efficiency, and throughput metrics to deliver measurable operational gains.

Governance, Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs requirements, and environmental, health, and safety regulations.

  • Maintain strong audit controls and business continuity plans across all 3PL sites.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and HR to mitigate co-employment, data security, and contractual risk.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide leadership and direction to regional logistics and 3PL performance managers globally.

  • Build collaborative partnerships across internal functions—Procurement, Customer Fulfillment, Finance, and Talent Management—to ensure business alignment.

  • Represent Milwaukee Tool in senior-level negotiations, site visits, and executive forums to uphold the company's culture and performance standards.
