Our expanding logistics center in Chicago, Illinois is looking for an experienced Forklift Operator. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials within our warehouse. This includes loading and unloading trucks, moving inventory to and from storage areas, and supporting order fulfillment processes. You will operate various types of forklifts and other powered industrial trucks. Maintaining a safe work environment is our highest priority, and all team members must strictly adhere to safety regulations, including the mandatory use of PPE. The ideal candidate will possess a valid forklift certification, a proven track record of safe operation, and a solid understanding of warehouse logistics. This role involves considerable physical dexterity and the ability to handle heavy loads safely. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload goods from trucks and trailers accurately and safely.
- Transport inventory to and from designated warehouse locations.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklift equipment and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory locations.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse safety standards and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and steady hand.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
