We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Warehouse Technician to join our dynamic logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. The Warehouse Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing warehouse equipment, ensuring efficient operations, and upholding the highest standards of safety. This role is crucial for the smooth functioning of our distribution center and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and preventative maintenance. You will work closely with the operations management to identify and address any technical issues that may arise, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Your expertise will be vital in keeping our warehouse running at peak performance, supporting the overall logistics network. We require candidates with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems common in warehouse environments. Experience with forklifts, conveyor belts, and automated storage systems is highly desirable. Regular inspections and adherence to maintenance schedules are key components of this position. You will also be involved in training other staff on the proper use and basic maintenance of equipment. Adherence to all safety protocols and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory. This role involves frequent lifting, often of heavy components, so physical stamina is essential. Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on warehouse machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure operational efficiency.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment failure.
- Ensure all equipment is compliant with safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate and maintain various warehouse tools and machinery.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for maintenance operations.
- Respond to emergency repair requests promptly.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to identify areas for operational improvement.
- Uphold strict safety standards, including the proper use of PPE.
- Ability to perform tasks involving significant lifting.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment (forklifts, conveyors, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Physical ability to handle manual labor, including significant lifting.
- Experience in a logistics or distribution environment is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
