About Us

We are KGS Group, an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients throughout North America. We’re different than traditional engineering firms. As an employee-owned company, we’re invested in our work and our people. Working with us means you’ll be part of some of the most interesting projects across Canada, the U.S. and beyond. You will work closely with the IT team to provide services for staff working on-site and remotely. This position is ideal for a versatile, proactive, and independent professional who enjoys working across systems, networks, and security domains.

You will directly enable mission-critical engineering work by ensuring our systems, networks, and collaboration platforms are resilient, secure, and performant. Your efforts will reduce downtime, improve user experience, and strengthen our compliance posture, supporting project delivery across geographically distributed offices and remote job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives including patching, access control, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness
  • Assist with cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure) and on-premise integrations
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated technical issues
  • Participate in IT projects such as upgrades, migrations, and process improvements
  • Document configurations, procedures, and maintain accurate records

About You

To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in system and network administration
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux environments
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (Windows Hyper-V, Proxmox, Docker) and enterprise storage solutions
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and frameworks
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Good understanding of Azure AD, AD Connect and ADFS.
  • Experience with Synology or other Active Directory connected NAS solutions
  • Certification or demonstrable comparable experience with MS 365 and Azure platform administration
  • Ability to travel to any of our regional offices in Canada and the United States
  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada and RCMP security clearances (RELIABILITY and above)

Additional Assets:

  • Familiarity with managing infrastructure across multiple geographically distributed offices
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and ISO/IEC 27001
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
