We are seeking a reliable Material Handler to join our busy San Diego, California warehouse. In this critical logistics role, you will be responsible for the movement and management of materials throughout the facility, ensuring efficient operations and inventory accuracy. Your tasks will include loading and unloading shipments, organizing stock, and preparing materials for internal or external distribution. A strong commitment to safety and operational efficiency is essential. We provide thorough training and all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a secure working environment. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely, using appropriate equipment.
- Transport materials within the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
- Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper inventory control.
- Receive and inspect incoming goods, verifying quantities and quality against documentation.
- Prepare materials for shipment or further processing, ensuring correct packaging and labeling.
- Conduct regular checks on equipment to ensure safe operation and report any issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all work areas and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including safe lifting practices and the mandatory use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory management activities, such as cycle counts and stock checks.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize material flow and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse/logistics role is required.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (valid certification is a plus).
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including significant lifting of up to 60 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and operate machinery for extended periods.
