We are looking for a diligent Material Handler to join our logistics team in Washington, D.C. This role is fundamental to our warehouse operations, ensuring that materials are moved, organized, and prepared efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include receiving goods, transporting them to designated storage areas, and preparing them for outgoing shipments. The Material Handler will utilize various material handling equipment and adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety. You will play a key role in maintaining the flow of goods within our facility, contributing to the overall efficiency of our supply chain. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming materials from trucks and containers.
- Inspect materials for damage and verify quantities against shipping documents.
- Transport materials to and from storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Organize and stack materials in designated locations, ensuring proper inventory management.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and staging orders.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring aisles and walkways are clear.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and stocktaking.
- Support the logistics team in meeting operational targets and deadlines.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role is preferred. Ability to perform tasks involving frequent Lifting and manual dexterity. Must be able to operate pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment. Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE. Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. A commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Experience with forklifts is a plus. Understanding of basic logistics principles is beneficial.
