About the Company

Our client is a leading law firm with a reputation for excellence and a commitment to long-term client relationships, the firm blends deep legal expertise with practical insight. They are currently seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Tax Associate to join their growing practice.


The successful candidate will work closely with partners and cross-functional advisors to design tax-efficient structures and provide ongoing counsel related to corporate reorganizations, trusts, succession planning, and other complex matters.


Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and strategic tax advice on corporate reorganizations, estate freezes, succession planning, and wealth preservation
  • Research and interpret the Income Tax Act (Canada), provincial legislation, and CRA guidance
  • Draft and review legal documents, including trust deeds, shareholder agreements, and reorganization documents
  • Work with external advisors, accountants, and financial planners to deliver coordinated client solutions
  • Analyze client structures and transactions for tax efficiency and legal compliance
  • Prepare detailed client memos and tax planning recommendations
  • Monitor developments in Canadian tax law and proactively communicate implications to clients and internal teams


Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized Canadian law school
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • 1-3 years of experience practicing tax law in a law firm
  • Completion of, or enrollment in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills
  • Demonstrated experience with private client planning, trusts, and owner-managed businesses
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable in client-facing roles
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
