We are currently searching for an ambitious, self driven Shop Supervisor to join our Global manufacturing team in London, Ontario. This is a "hands-on" position working collaboratively with other departments to maintain the flow in the metal shop production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor, forecast and maintain manpower based on production requirements
  • Drive KPI target achievement through regular team reviews and problem-solving activities
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in areas of responsibility by reducing process waste
  • Manage budgets to ensure company goals are achieved
  • Maintain 5S standards and ensure operations are within compliance with health and safety standards as required by law
  • Set up, troubleshoot, monitor and operate several complex machines, including
  • CNC turret punch presses, CNC brake presses, spot welders, core machines (automated production machines) and CNC water-jet tables
  • Directly supervise staff and perform daily work audits, prepare regular inventory reports and analyses as required
  • Monitor, approve and maintain up to date computer records for payroll timecards
  • Support and develop shop floor employees including team leaders
  • Operate various metal shop machines, including CNC turret punch press, CNC brake presses, spot welders, core machines and CNC water jet tables to produce component parts for units
  • Ensure the efficient use of labour and equipment, directly responsible for providing strong labour operation and maximizing equipment usage to affect the best possible deliverables
  • Monitoring, checking, and approving the work of the team ensuring that produced components are of quality in accordance with standards and specifications
  • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback and effective training to staff for skill development, growth, and performance improvement to encourage and support a high-performance work culture
  • Support colleagues and work in a team environment to support strategies


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in manufacturing management or a related field of study
  • 5+ years work experience in manufacturing environment in a supervisory position
  • Advanced understanding of lean manufacturing, production processes and quality control
  • Excellent reading, writing, analytical and problem-solving skills in order to discharge responsibilities efficiently and effectively
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, calculators and other office equipment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills
  • Ability to resolve operational issues using good judgement
  • Strong supervisory, organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledgeable of proper safety standards and procedures regarding operation of equipment
  • Flexibile with the ability to assist with other projects as needed
