Position Summary
As an Intermediate Interior Designer, you will take on more responsibility in the development and execution of commercial office design projects, collaborating closely with the Design Director and team. You will lead design initiatives, manage project documentation, and help ensure projects meet expectations, timelines and budgets. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer looking to further grow in their career in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with the team lead on the design development process, from concept to construction, ensuring the design meets project objectives.
- Prepare and present mood boards, materials, and design presentations to the team and stakeholders.
- Draft detailed plans from initial schematic design through to construction documentation
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and architectural sales representatives to ensure timely procurement and installation of materials and furnishings.
- Maintain project documentation and assist in preparing detailed specifications for materials, finishes, and fixtures.
- Conduct site visits and ensure quality control during the project’s execution.
- Draft and prepare FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment) plans and specifications for coordination with vendors.
- Collaborate with team lead to ensure projects stay on track with design integrity, budget, and schedule.
- Mentor and guide junior designers in their professional development and design tasks.
- Travel to Calgary, Alberta to our Pavilion office locations will be required periodically.
Who You Are
You are an experienced and imaginative Interior Designer who thrives at the intersection of function, culture and brand. With a strong foundation in commercial and residential interior design, you bring both creative vision and practical execution skills to every project.
You are energized by the challenge of designing spaces that feel purposeful, welcoming, and operationally efficient. You consistently think beyond aesthetics, understanding how people move, collaborate and experience the built environment. You balance creativity with business objectives, and you are comfortable working within the complexities of real estate development, construction processes, vendor management and changing priorities.
In addition to these qualities, you possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited institution.
- 5+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in a studio or similar design environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop, Vectorworks (an asset)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design-related software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently present to clients and communicate design ideas effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional visual presentation and design skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional travel.
- Solutions oriented approach with superior time management, multitasking and prioritization abilities.
- Eligible to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or valid working visa) required.
Total Compensation Package
- Base Annual Compensation, with a range of $70,000.00 - $90,000.00. depending on experience and qualifications.
- Vacation & Time Off Package.
- Extended Health & Dental Benefits upon successful completion of a mandatory 3 month probationary period.
