We are looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurate, complete, and prepared according to company standards and carrier requirements. Your responsibilities will include verifying order details, preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining records. Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach are essential for success in this role. This position is key to our overall logistics operations and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with warehouse staff and carriers to ensure timely and efficient dispatch of goods. Maintaining accurate documentation is critical for tracking and auditing purposes. We prioritize a safe working environment and expect all employees to adhere to our strict Safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Verify order information for accuracy before shipment.
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensure all shipments comply with company policies and carrier regulations.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and file documentation.
- Communicate shipment status updates to relevant parties.
- Assist in resolving shipping-related issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Adhere to all Safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE .
- Support the overall Logistics team as needed.
- Occasional Lifting of packages up to 30 lbs may be required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a shipping clerk or in a related administrative role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using computers and common office software.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier portals is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Understanding of shipping and Logistics procedures is beneficial.
