We are hiring a Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa! This role is critical for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, communicating with carriers, and maintaining shipping records. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be key to your success. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outbound shipments, including creating shipping labels and bills of lading.
- Verify shipment details against order information for accuracy.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers and track shipments.
- Maintain accurate and organized shipping logs and records.
- Communicate with internal departments and external parties regarding shipment status.
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems effectively.
- Ensure all packages are properly labeled and documented according to requirements.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, emphasizing the use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and other warehouse duties as needed to support logistics.
- Keep the shipping area clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in shipping software and MS Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Understanding of basic logistics functions.
Physical Demands:
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods. Occasional lifting of boxes up to 30 pounds is necessary. Employees must follow all safety regulations, including the correct use of PPE and proper lifting techniques, to ensure a safe and efficient experience within our logistics operations.
