We are seeking a skilled and reliable *Heavy Truck Mechanic* to join our team at Cavossa Disposal Corporation. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can manage a schedule of prescheduled tasks as assigned by the Fleet Manager. The Heavy Truck Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy trucks and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable fleet operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate clearly regarding equipment status and repair needs.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment
* Diagnose and repair air brake systems
* Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
* Conduct routine inspections and identify mechanical or safety issues
* Communicate repair status, delays, roadblocks, and equipment conditions to the Fleet Manager
* Adjust task priorities as needed to maintain workflow efficiency
* Complete daily detailed Parts Request Forms and End-of-Day Reports, documenting completed work, delayed tasks, and unresolved or major issues
* Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in accordance with company standards and safety protocols
* Work outdoors in harsh or varying weather conditions when necessary
*Qualifications:*
* 18 years of age or older
* Minimum of 2+ years of heavy truck mechanic experience
* Strong knowledge of air brake systems, preventative maintenance, and electrical diagnostics
* Experience working on heavy trucks or commercial vehicles
* Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
* Strong communication skills and ability to document work accurately
* Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team
* Willingness to work scheduled hours, including Saturdays
* Valid driver’s license
* CDL license is a strong plus
* Welding and painting experience are a plus
*Benefits:*
* Competitive hourly wage ($25–$28 per hour, based on experience)
* Full-time, permanent position
* Consistent work schedule:
* Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
* Saturday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
