Join our vibrant logistics team in Indianapolis, Indiana, as a Receiving Clerk! This position is fundamental to our warehouse operations, involving the precise receiving, inspection, and documentation of all incoming goods. You will be responsible for verifying deliveries against purchase orders, identifying any discrepancies or damages, and ensuring that all items are accurately entered into our inventory system. A strong commitment to detail, organization, and safety is essential. The Receiving Clerk will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain efficient inbound logistics. This role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, and necessitates the consistent use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Your accuracy in this role directly impacts our inventory integrity and overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments accurately.
- Verify contents against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect goods for damage or defects and document any issues found.
- Enter received items into the inventory management system.
- Stage received goods for efficient put-away by other teams.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure the proper use of required PPE during all receiving activities.
- Assist with other warehouse tasks as needed to support overall logistics operations.
- Process and manage any returns or refused shipments.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in warehouse receiving or a similar logistics role is advantageous.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
- Capability of regular lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Familiarity with inventory control principles and warehouse procedures.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a logistics setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to workplace safety and correct PPE usage.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
