We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our busy logistics center in St. Louis, Missouri. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating forklifts to move, stack, and retrieve materials throughout the warehouse. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and efficient handling of goods, supporting both receiving and shipping operations. Duties include loading and unloading trucks, transporting inventory to and from storage areas, and assisting with order fulfillment. A strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and the mandatory use of PPE, is crucial. The ideal candidate is certified, possesses a proven track record of safe operation, and has excellent attention to detail. You will play a key role in maintaining operational flow and ensuring the integrity of our inventory. Experience with different types of forklifts and a commitment to maintaining a hazard-free environment are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts to move, load, unload, and stack materials within the warehouse.
- Transport inventory to and from designated storage locations accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Assist with order picking, staging, and preparation for shipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through proper scanning and system updates.
- Ensure that all loads are stable and secure during transport.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of obstructions.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of required PPE.
- Perform occasional lifting of items up to 60 pounds.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to optimize workflow and productivity.
- Contribute to the overall success of the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification (e.g., OSHA compliant).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- In-depth knowledge of warehouse safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional lifting and prolonged operation of equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and proper use of PPE.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
