We are looking for a meticulous Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is essential for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all orders are packaged correctly and dispatched on time. A keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of shipping procedures are vital. Maintaining a safe work environment, including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is a priority. This position requires organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic warehouse and logistics setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verify order accuracy and ensure correct product counts before shipment.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Operate shipping software and systems to track shipments and generate labels.
- Package outgoing orders securely and appropriately, ensuring product protection during transit.
- Maintain an organized shipping area and ensure it is kept clean and free of hazards.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and customers regarding shipping status.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory control and stocktaking as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support logistics operations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics or administrative role. High school diploma or equivalent. Proficient in using shipping software and basic computer applications. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to perform basic Lifting of up to 30 lbs. Understanding of shipping regulations and logistics best practices. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to PPE guidelines. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
