Our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility is looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our growing logistics team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documentation, generating labels, packing orders securely, and coordinating with various carriers. We prioritize a safe working environment, and all employees are required to strictly adhere to safety standards and the correct use of PPE. This role involves standing for extended periods and may require moderate to heavy lifting. We are seeking organized individuals with excellent communication skills and a commitment to accuracy. Experience with shipping software and a good understanding of logistics procedures are highly valued. Be a key contributor to our efficient distribution process!
Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare all shipping documentation, including invoices and bills of lading.
- Generate and apply shipping labels correctly.
- Pack products securely to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify order details against shipments to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup and delivery arrangements.
- Maintain organized shipping records and update inventory systems.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE, and maintain a clean shipping area.
- Perform tasks that may involve lifting and moving packages.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role is preferred.
- Familiarity with common shipping software and carrier portals.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring standing and moderate lifting.
- Understanding of safe warehouse practices and the importance of PPE.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
