Are you a reliable and physically capable individual seeking a stable role? Our warehouse in Detroit, Michigan, is hiring a Material Handler to support our essential logistics operations. You will be responsible for moving, stocking, and retrieving materials and products within the warehouse. This includes operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, ensuring that goods are transported safely and efficiently. Your primary focus will be on maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production lines, and ensuring that the warehouse is organized and secure. This position demands a strong understanding of safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe lifting practices. You will be an integral part of our supply chain, contributing to the smooth operation of our logistics network.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Move materials from receiving to storage areas, and from storage to production or shipping areas.
- Perform inventory checks and assist with cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or safety hazards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with order picking and packing as needed.
- Support overall warehouse efficiency and logistics flow.
- Ensure safe lifting practices are followed at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or forklift operator is required.
- Valid forklift certification is a must.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 75 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
- Familiarity with various types of material handling equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to PPE guidelines.
