Our Chicago, Illinois location is hiring an experienced Forklift Operator. This critical role involves operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts) to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Forklift Operator is essential for the efficient and safe handling of materials within our warehouse, ensuring the smooth flow of goods in our logistics operations. The ideal candidate will possess a valid forklift certification, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment. You will play a vital role in managing inventory and supporting shipping and receiving functions.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move materials.
- Load and unload products from trucks and trailers.
- Transport goods to and from designated storage areas.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Ensure all materials are stored safely and organized.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and orderliness in operational areas.
- Adhere strictly to all Safety regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform daily pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any maintenance issues.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification (e.g., OSHA).
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Ability to perform heavy Lifting (up to 60 lbs) as needed.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse Safety procedures and practices.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Reliable and committed to punctuality.
