The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, organizational effectiveness, and team cohesion. This is a key leadership role as the company is in growth mode.


Responsibilities


  • Promote a safe, injury / accident-free workplace
  • Maintain focus on product quality, zero defect
  • Manage all production activities in conjunction with production schedule; ensure estimated labour costs are being met
  • Set direction in production departments to continually drive efficiency improvements
  • Oversee customer deliveries and ensure proper processing to meet objectives
  • Schedule and oversee Production Meetings utilizing the team; set job priorities
  • Build strong ‘customer/supplier’ relationships with other departments to ensure job deliverables are being met
  • Always be looking to Continuously Improve (CI) plant efficiencies through process/people improvements and assessing equipment effectiveness
  • Aid production in manufacturability issues to determine best approach
  • Manage cost in all areas of the manufacturing process
  • Evaluate effectiveness and workload of team
  • Participate in customer meetings as needed
  • Work with production team to improve on time delivery results
  • Percentage of time dedicated to assisting management team with overflow work as required
  • Aid in customer issues review to help determine best course of action
  • Manage maintenance of facility and equipment
  • Manage all department supervisors/lead hands
  • Maintain a shop floor presence
  • Keep GM informed of production issues and wins
  • Maintain/Develop KPI’s; complete required reports
  • Performing employee performance evaluations, addressing employee performance and corrective action plans for management staff
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, selection and hiring of new employees


Experience, Qualifications & Attributes


  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Maintenance and/or Business Management is preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintenance and Engineering leadership would be an asset
  • 5-10 years of management experience is an asset
  • Some knowledge of existing business customer base and build on it, at the same time create new customer relationships
  • Previous experience in a ‘Job Shop’ heavy fabrication, welding and/or machining
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and product specifications
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid works, 3D modeling an asset
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes in welding, machining, blasting and painting
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
  • Always represent the Company with integrity in an ethical and legal manner
  • Be a change agent and self-starter motivated by a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power Bi, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor) would be an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AWS, CWB procedures is an asset
  • Team orientated mindset
  • Mechanical Aptitude is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented
  • Operate with a “can do” mindset
  • Driven to provide outstanding customer service
