Position Overview

The Shop Manager is skilled in technical shop duties, retail product knowledge, and sales, and lends a hand with cleaning duties around the lodge. The Shop Manager plays a key role in guest satisfaction in the day-to-day operation of the lodge.

This is a seasonal job opportunity. The CMH winter season runs from late-November to late-April.

Daily rate of pay is based on an 11-hour day, worked as a split shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain fleet of skis, snowboards, poles, and bindings.
  • Adjust bindings and settings to support the needs of each guest.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels for equipment and retail stock.
  • Oversee all merchandising and displays in retail shop, as well as being educated on product knowledge.
  • Process all cash, debit, and credit transactions.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.
  • Support the ski program by assisting with radio duty and rescue response.
  • Willingness to assist other members of the lodge team, as needed.
  • Adhere to OH&S, food safe, and WHMIS standards.
  • Support guests in the field program, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical shop experience with ski/board industry.
  • Salomon Certification considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 year of retail store experience.
  • Experience with ordering and inventory management.
  • Background in luxury hospitality or remote ski lodges, preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

This type of lodge work is challenging and demanding.  Successful staff are intrinsically motivated by a passion for the ski/board industry and creating memorable experiences with our guests.

Work Environment:

  • This job is in a remote area of British Columbia. Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area for work shifts.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate job-specific equipment on a constant basis.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.

During these times of change, this position requires the flexibility and willingness to accept new responsibilities and potentially transfer others.

Compensation

A competitive daily rate will be provided, along with 4% vacation pay and potential opportunities to heli-ski, as available. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
