Position Overview
UP Vertical Farms is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and hands-on junior Operations Supervisor to support the smooth and efficient daily operations of our high-tech indoor vertical farming facility. This role plays a key part in coordinating production, logistics, and quality control activities, while maintaining accurate records, supporting frontline production staff, and ensuring operational, safety, logistical and administrative standards are consistently met.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and eager to grow into a leadership role within a fast-paced controlled-environment agriculture setting. Prior experience in agricultural operations, food production, manufacturing, or operations administration is considered an asset, along with strong communication skills and a commitment to sustainability and innovation.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position within the Operations department of UP Vertical Farms. The initial term of employment will be six (6) months, commencing on a date to be determined by the Company. The position is temporary in nature and does not guarantee extension or conversion to a permanent role. Any continuation of employment beyond the initial contract term will be subject to business needs and a separate written agreement.
The junior Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager and works closely with Operations Supervisors, Floor Supervisors, production and administrative staff. Work hours may include weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings, depending on production requirements.
Work is performed according to established operating procedures and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The junior Operations Supervisor exercises considerable independence in carrying out daily tasks and ensuring continuous operations, particularly during off-shift hours. Performance is evaluated by the Operations Manager in terms of the effectiveness of supervision, productivity outcomes, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
Assist with scheduling, coordinating, dispatching and time tracking of truck drivers for deliveries to Canada and United States.
Apply and ensure that the required permits, licences, registrations, CVSE/DOT requirements and shipping documentation are in place prior to dispatching of commercial fleet.
Assist in coordinating daily vertical farming operations, including planting, harvesting, packaging, sanitation, logistical and maintenance activities.
Help ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
Review employee timecards for accuracy.
Assist with scheduling of staff to ensure adequate coverage across operational shifts.
Maintain accurate production, quality, inventory, inspection, equipment/machinery, store check, workplace incident and labor records.
Assist with ordering and coordinating procurement of farm inputs.
Maintain documentation related to inspections, food safety, and workplace safety.
Monitor task completion and provide feedback to support productivity and teamwork.
Help promote a positive, safe, and respectful work environment.
Support hygiene, sanitation, and food safety protocols.
Assist in monitoring environmental parameters (light, temperature, humidity, nutrients) and reporting deviations.
Enforce workplace policies including safety practices related to PPE.
Support compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
Assist with routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment and farming systems.
Report equipment malfunctions or facility issues to Owners and Operations Manager.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Must be 16 years of age.
1 year of experience working in a manufacturing, agriculture or production related environment
Completion of post secondary degree.
Valid Drivers License
Computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
Must be eligible to work in Canada with no restrictions.
Skills and Abilities

Ability to support and coordinate teams in a fast-paced environment.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow procedures and assist with enforcing policies.
Willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and agricultural practices.

Physical stamina to perform standing, walking, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Basic technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work on-site at UP Vertical Farms.
May occasionally drive to perform store product checks.
Work atmosphere is professional and cordial.
Physically demanding.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary range of $47,000-$50,000 per annum.

Work Schedule
Approximately 40 hours per week.
Mornings, Days and/or evenings shifts on weekdays or weekends.
Daily shift end times for associates vary based on production needs.
Training
On-site and on-the-job training.
