Assistant Summer Camp Co-ordinator

Community Services department

(contract dates: May 25, 2026 to August 28, 2026)

Position description

The Town is seeking two Assistant Summer Camp Co-ordinators to assist the Summer Camp Co-ordinator in planning the Town's 2026 summer camps. Duties of this position include overseeing camp programs, off-site excursions, and camp activities as required; assisting staff with the integration of children with special needs; assisting with the planning and implementation of camp training sessions; providing direction and feedback to Counsellors; responding to parent and staff concerns; preparing required supply orders; completing attendance lists, staff schedules, incident reports, supply tracking, and correspondence; providing feedback for Counsellor evaluations; and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Full-time enrollment in a post-secondary program such as Recreation and Leisure, Education, Child and Youth Development, or Early Childhood Education
  • Previous experience working with children, including a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a camp or recreation setting.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with XPlor Recreation (formerly PerfectMind) recreation program software would be an asset.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing

The successful candidates will be expected to work some weekends depending on program and training needs. Mandatory camp training days are scheduled in June, and successful candidates must be available to work on Canada Day. Hours of work will be thirty-five (35) hours per week prior to the start of camp, and then ranging from forty (40) to forty-four (44) hours per week during camps, depending on business needs.

Hourly Rate: $24.59 to $ rate)

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including either a vulnerable sector check or a criminal record and judicial matters check, as permitted under Ontario's Police Record Checks Reform Act, and in accordance with the duties of the position.
