Position Description

The Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, invites applications for the following 12-month limited term appointment at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Faculty offers pre-service teacher education (Bachelor of Education (BEd)), in-service teacher education (Master of Education (MEd); Certificate), and PhD programming, and is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX's priorities of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). Candidates are asked to indicate concretely in their application how they will contribute to the EDIA efforts of our university.

The successful candidate will contribute to both on-campus and off-campus offerings; as such, the position is based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and some travel throughout the province will be required. The successful candidate must hold a valid driver's license. Experience with both synchronous and asynchronous modes of online instruction are considered assets.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree and experience teaching in P–12 school communities. A completed or nearly completed PhD is considered an asset. Candidates should have familiarity and working knowledge of the Nova Scotia education context, particularly as it relates to inclusive education and/or mental health.
