We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for our busy Detroit, Michigan location. This role is fundamental to our operational efficiency, ensuring that all outbound shipments are processed accurately, securely, and on time. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping documentation, and verifying order details. Success in this position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and effective communication skills. You will be a vital link in our Logistics network, contributing to customer satisfaction. Adherence to all Safety guidelines and the correct use of PPE is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of contents and destination.
- Generate shipping labels, waybills, and other necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, local couriers) for pickups and deliveries.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Verify orders against shipping manifests and packing slips.
- Ensure all packages are properly sealed, labeled, and meet carrier requirements.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and logs.
- Operate shipping software and equipment efficiently.
- Uphold strict adherence to warehouse Safety policies and use required PPE .
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role within a Logistics or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency in shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to perform tasks involving moderate Lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of proper PPE usage is essential.
