Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Casual Housekeeper to join our team.Under the direction of the Hospice Manager the Housekeeper is responsible to maintain a clean and attractive environment at Hospice House. Exceptional housekeeping practices will be provided in a gentle manner that respects the privacy and dignity of clients and loved ones.

Housekeeping shifts are seven (7) days a week from 6:00 am to 14:00 pm with a thirty (30) minute unpaid meal break unless modified by the direct supervisor.

Duties

  • Provides duties consistent with hospice team values, policies and procedures and the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association's Norms of Practice
  • Creates and maintains a physical environment that contributes to quality of life for client and loves ones
  • Complete all housekeeping daily duty lists thoroughly and complete unscheduled cleaning in priority sequence
  • Cleans and disinfects all common areas and group rooms, offices, staff room, boardroom, kitchens, bathrooms and resident rooms including fixtures, cupboards, beds, walls, lights and windows
  • Sweeps, scrubs and vacuums floors in all areas of the House
  • Performs other cleaning duties according to established routines
  • Maintains utility, store rooms and closets in tidy and sanitary condition
  • Assists the Support Service Leader in the maintenance of equipment and furnishings
  • Reports any damage or unusable fixtures, furniture or equipment to the Maintenance Department
  • Responsible for laundry on day shift with the assistance of care team members
  • Empties and cleans all waste containers and transports garbage or recycling to designated areas
  • Responsible for ordering and stocking housekeeping supplies
  • Provides cleaning services to the Society offices weekly before 08:00 and on weekends
  • Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings and workshops as required
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Custodial Worker Training and experience
  • Knowledge and experience in end-of-life care an asset
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures
  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check (we can help with this)
  • Provide evidence of Province of British Columbia Public Health Office immunization and tuberculosis control programs prior to employment including any recommended boosters as identified by the BC Public Health Office.
  • Preference to a valid BC driver's license and access to personal vehicle for deliveries and pickups as needed

Pay: $19.50-$21.49 per hour
