Role Overview Join Rightmove’s Architecture practice as a Solutions Architect, where you will shape the foundation of our scalable web and mobile platforms. Your focus will be on defining architectural principles, creating reusable artifacts, and ensuring that our systems remain secure, agile, and ready for continuous innovation.
Responsibilities
Set long‑term technology direction, define milestones, and promote a culture of experimentation.
Create and maintain reference architectures, patterns, data models, and design guidance.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design well‑structured, maintainable, resilient, and observable components.
Guide best practices for data modelling, lineage, ownership, and governance to support analytics and AI use cases.
Mentor teams to make autonomous architectural decisions aligned with shared standards.
Lead complex design challenges, share knowledge, and elevate overall architectural maturity.
Qualifications
Translate business goals into technology solutions and anticipate future needs.
Pragmatic mindset, using technology to deliver business outcomes.
Proven experience with high‑traffic web and mobile applications.
Strong communication skills to convey architectural ideas to diverse stakeholders.
Create an environment where teams are empowered yet aligned to shared principles.
Foster inclusive, collaborative decision‑making.
Background Experience
Demonstrated experience architecting distributed systems at scale.
Strong understanding of containers, orchestration platforms, and modern DevOps practices.
Experience with high‑volume messaging platforms and event‑driven design patterns.
Designing solutions in public cloud environments, ideally Google Cloud Platform.
Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL data stores, data modelling, and integration patterns.
Continuous delivery, agile engineering environment experience.
Technology stack includes GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), Kafka, Elasticsearch, Oracle, Couchbase, and Apigee – prior experience in any of these is welcomed.
